On the day of the Feast of the Most Holy Redeemer a bridge of barges is built connecting Giudecca island and Il Redentore to the rest of Venice.
Il Redentore (Chiesa del Santissimo Redentore), is a 16th-century Roman Catholic church designed by the architect Andrea Palladio and built to give thanks for the end of the terrible plague of 1576.
The Festa del Redentore is held the third Sunday of July.
The bridge starts on the Zattere, a wide waterfront promenade.
